Norman Roy, longtime friend to my dad

On January 3rd 2022, a life long friend of my father passed away.  I had fond memories of Norman and his two kids (Christine and Robert) while growing up.  Norman would going hunting and fishing with my dad frequently - and boy could Norman tell some tales.  Oh, and he would always threaten to throw me overboard, if I caught another pickerel. Pickerel’s (or pickle as he would call them) was the one fish he did not allow to be caught in his boat. Norman lived his life to the fullest enjoying the outdoors.  Norman and my dad were best friends until my dad’s passing in 1993.

When they weren’t hunting and fishing together, they worked together for the same company (Owens Corning Fiberglass; yes the company that makes insulation) in Cumberland, Rhode Island.  Both spent a good number of years there until the plant closed.  While I did not know Norman was in the Marines, that would explain his respect for others.  Norman was always good for a laugh.  Below is his obituary.  Norman will be missed, but I am sure he is with my dad telling the same old fishing tales and fishing lakes we could only dream of.
